Education to Become an Infusion Nurse

Every practicing nurse in the United States should be a certified registered nurse (RN). To become an RN nurse, you will need a nursing diploma on at least an Associates level (ASN) as well as your NCLEX.  This is an exam through the National Council Licensure that qualifies you as a registered nurse.

As with every nursing career, your degree level will determine your position as well as your salary within your nursing career. To become a certified registered infusion nurse (CRNI), you will need it to gain at least 1600 hours of infusion nursing experience which will qualify you for the certified registered nurse infusion exam.

With an MSN, your nursing responsibilities will be greater than if you have just an ASN or BSN. An Infusion Master’s Specialty is offered through some the best nursing schools across the country.   As a clinical nurse specialist, you are often in charge of an entire department, and assist in training and education within your expertise. Nursing jobs are more obtainable with a higher degree as well.   If you have your ASN, and want to continue in your nursing career, you might consider continuing your education

Online nursing school is a great option for individuals who don’t have time for a full-time traditional schooling program.  Online infusion nursing programs are generally available through MSN specialty programs.  Schools such as Kaplan University offer online RN programs.  Some of the other top online nursing schools include University of Massachusetts – Amherst, East Carolina University, George Washington University, University of Alabama – Huntsville, University of Texas Medical Branch – Galveston, Florida State University, University of Missouri – Kansas City, and Stony Brook University – Sunny, just to name a few.

Infusion Nurse Salary

RN salary varies a great deal depending on your level of education, nursing certifications, and position.  With an ASN, you’ll be qualified to work in entry level nursing jobs which pay considerably less than if you’re a CNS.  A clinical nurse specialist can make well into the six-figure income.  The average CNS salary is around $90,000 per year.  The average ASN RN salary is around $55,000 per year.  As you can see, it’s well worth the time and commitment to finish that college career.
